Biography

Evan Ryan Canady was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. He began playing music at the age of 12 after receiving a guitar for Christmas that year. Together, with his brother Aaron, they formed the band Shrapnel in the summer of 1999, a heavy metal band with roots coming from the early to mid 90’s metal genre. In 2001, Evan and Aaron relocated the band to Austin, TX where they would make their mark, and become weekend warriors in the local heavy metal music scene. After releasing 2 full length albums, countless performances all over Texas, and 3 national tours, Shrapnel pulled the plug and walked off stage for the last time in December of 2012.

In the spring of 2024, after an almost 12 year hiatus, Evan felt the urge to start playing music again. This time, the plan was to teach himself how to play the piano with the understanding that it would be only for fun. The days of playing shows and touring are not even a blip on the old radar. Within the first 60 days of playing piano, Evan wrote his first song, A Day In The Life, the title track for his first solo album. A week later he wrote The Dream, and the week after that, he wrote Falling Into The Fire. At this point it became evident that the song writing wasn’t going to stop, so he got some studio gear and started recording them.

Throughout the summer of 2024, Evan wrote and recorded his debut solo album A Day In The Life. Immediately following the release in January of 2025, he started writing his second solo album which was released in August of the same year. Wielding a new 8 string guitar, and the piano skills acquired on writing the first album, Trials and Tribulations took a different direction back into the heavy metal realm he’d always preferred. With a solid grip on the sound and style of the new axe accompanied by the keys he began writing his third solo album Providence in November of 2025, and after 7 months of dedication to writing and recording, as well as the co-production of his brother Aaron, Providence is set for release in mid-July 2026.

“Trials and Tribulations - This is a metal album through and through, loaded with thick waves of distortion, drums that land like war hammers, and bass that shakes the ground beneath it. At the center, Canady’s vocal performance cuts through with precision and authority.”
