Evan Ryan Canady was born and raised in Lubbock, TX. He began playing music at the age of 12 after receiving a guitar for Christmas that year. Together, with his brother Aaron, they formed the band Shrapnel in the summer of 1999, a heavy metal band with roots coming from the early to mid 90’s metal genre. In 2001, Evan and Aaron relocated the band to Austin, TX where they would make their mark, and become weekend warriors in the local heavy metal music scene. After releasing 2 full length albums, countless performances all over Texas, and 3 national tours, Shrapnel pulled the plug and walked off stage for the last time in December of 2012.
Evan, burnt out from years of dogging it in the music scene, decided to put music in the rear view mirror. In early 2014, with a new job offer in the works, he packed up and moved to San Antonio, TX to take on a white collar position for a Texas based corporation. Here he would ultimately meet his best friend and wife Noelle. In late 2016, Evan had an opportunity to go over seas and spend a couple of weeks “in the bush” of South Africa. After returning home from such an incredible experience, he decided that the corporate world was not where he was suppose to spend the majority of his life. So, in 2017 he again packed up and moved into the sticks of West Texas where he and Noelle built their forever home.
In the spring of 2024, after an almost 12 year hiatus, Evan felt the urge to start playing music again. This time, the plan was to teach himself how to play the piano with the understanding that it would be only for fun. The days of playing shows and touring are not even a blip on the old radar. Within the first 60 days of playing piano, Evan wrote his first song, A Day In The Life, the title track for his first solo album. A week later he wrote The Dream, and the week after that, he wrote Falling Into The Fire. At this point it became evident that the song writing wasn’t going to stop, so he got some studio gear and started recording them. Throughout the summer of 2024, Evan wrote and recorded, in his home office studio, all of the tracks for his first full length solo album A Day In The Life available now for free download.
